1. Nurture social relationships.  We are social creatures who need positive input from others in order to develop our understanding of the world.  Make sure those social times contribute to your health and well being instead of causing ill health and emotional turmoil.
  2. Meditate.  Praying is talking to the Higher Power.  Meditating is listening to the Higher Power.  Studies show the value of meditating each day for more direction, peace and understanding.
  3. Eat well.  Educate yourself about the foods your body needs to promote health and well being.  You wouldn’t put sawdust in your gas tank….why put junk food in your body?  Fresh fruits, veggies, whole grains, nuts and seeds, clean water and fresh juices feed our bodies life.  Canned foods, processed foods, and many cooked foods feed our bodies death.
  4. Exercise.  There are so many wonderful and fun ways to move our body for stretching, cardio strength and muscle building.  Choose a harmonious balance and enjoy one half hour or more a day of  healthy movement.
  5. Live minimally.  Clutter and “stuff” weighs us down not only from having to clean it but also having to ignore the overwhelming feeling of being responsible for it.  Make a date two times a year to go through cupboards, closets, drawers and storage areas and give away, donate or trash things that you really don’t need.   The feeling of lightness will surprise you!
  6. Be honest.  Especially with yourself first.  The truth will set you free but first it will make you angry! Nonetheless, being honest helps to foster a lightness of being that contributes more clarity to your world.  This is a trait that needs to be taught from childhood on and yet many adults aren’t honest with their own children let alone themselves.
  7.  Establish personal control.  Mostly over yourself by knowing who you are, what you want to accomplish in life and how you are going to do that.  Learning how to focus your thoughts and actions is a BIG step to personal control.
  8. Accept what cannot be changed.  YOU CAN NOT CHANGE ANOTHER PERSON.  BUT YOU CAN CHANGE YOURSELF.  There are many techniques available that help people question their thoughts which may be causing stress about persons, places, things or events  which are out of our control and cannot be changed.  Search these out and you will never regret it.
