“A Cup of Christmas Tea”, a book by Tom Hegg and Warren Hanson, was read by Dr. Janet Taylor to nine guests at Sweet Teas Water Mill on Saturday, December 7, 2013.  She dedicated the reading to her late mother and 98 year old aunt.

The Christmas Tea took place in the renovated sugar cane mill behind Quantum Leap in Wotten Waven.  Dr. Janet has been converting the ruins into a tea room/greenhouse with an historical walking tour.

The day was sunny but cool for Dominica’s typical tropical weather and rain had cleaned and shined the grounds.  Dr. Janet gave a 20 minute walking tour of the historical ruins amidst “oohs” and “aahs” and the clicking of cameras.

The guests were served fresh herbal tea in antique China tea cups which came from the estate of Dr.  Janet’s late parents.  Within the ruins is a special memorial cabinet dedicated to both Dr. Janet’s late parents and late partner who passed away on Dominica.  Both were contributors to the dream of Sweet Teas.

The herbal teas were picked from the gardens and green house and accompanied by some sweet treats of homemade banana bread with cranberries and nuts and another natural dessert, a pineapple casserole.

Although not officially open to the public Sweet Teas put a special glow on the holiday season.
