- Avoid making excuses. Be impeccable with your word. If you say you will do something …do it unless you must reschedule or have an emergency. Have the courtesy to let the others know what is going on so they can continue their life accordingly. If you can’t do something say so. Others will respect you for it.
- Live in the present, the NOW. Each moment is really the only place where we have the greatest power. Once that moment is gone, the past won’t support our movement forward. The future has not yet happened so the NOW is really all that is. Breathing slowly and watching our breath puts us in present time immediately…..so does prayer and meditation.
- Wake up at the same time every morning. Body rhythms run more smoothly when there is a repetitive pattern of rest, relaxation and sleep. Waking up refreshed helps set the tone of the day.
- Don’t compare yourself to others. You are unique and so are they. Celebrate your strengths and work on your weaknesses. Comparing yourself with others contributes to a “not enough” mentally that keeps you imprisoned in your own lack of value.
- Surround yourself with positive people. Form a network of people who love and respect themselves and therefore can love and respect you. Positive people feel good to be around because they look at life as a joyful and exciting experience to create. They help you step outside the box and have fun doing it!
- Realize that you don’t need other’s approval. NEVER TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY. When you rely of validation from others for who you are, you give them power to make you happy or sad by a comment, a look, or a gesture. Not a healthy way to live or experience the adventure of life.
- Take time to listen. That means stop any dialogue inside your head when someone else is talking. You may even want to repeat what they said in your own words to make sure you heard them correctly. Good listeners are few and far between because there are so many distractions with our technology gadgets.
