Food and moods have a close link and as we study more of these effects, better choices can be incorporated into people’s lifestyle. I find that mentioning “sex drive” gets people’s attention faster than most disease references!! Interesting to say the least. So here are some foods and drinks that can actually decrease sex drive.
Gin and tonic. This cocktail packs a double sex drive killing whammy. It is (obviously) made with gin, which can chemically inhibit your sex drive when consumed in large quantities. It also contains tonic water, which is flavored with quinine, which is believed to lower testosterone levels.
Soy. Soy is high in estrogen and lowers the male sex drive. It also carries an increased risk of disease while lowering testosterone levels in women. Much popularity with soy has existed over the years but more research is showing caution when it comes to consuming soy products.
Licorice. Eating large quantities of this candy can create hormonal changes in both genders.
Bacon. Bacon contains both high levels of saturated fat and cholesterol, which can clog the arteries. Some of the first to clog are the penal and vaginal arteries, which are smaller than others in the body. Most of the vegetarian bacon is made with soy so watch out with certain substitutes.
Sausage. See bacon.
Dairy. Dairy foods can be just as high in fat as bacon and sausage and carry the same risk of clogging your arteries.
Processed baked goods. Be on the lookout for trans fats, which are also artery cloggers. Just because a label says “no trans fats” doesn’t necessarily mean the baked good is safe. Trans fats are sometimes a by product of the baking process. Yes, cooking food does change the nutritional and chemical content. Back to raw or lightly steamed fruits and veggies!
