I attended a pre-conference class today with a unique vision of caring for those volunteers and professionals who involve themselves with disasters such as tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, etc. Mary Jo Bullbrook was the facilitator.
It is individuals and group organizations who give of their time and talents to other humans who need support in crisis, who need themselves to be supported, healed and loved.
I was particularly touched by a veteran who told his story of special forces training and emotional hardening who turned after a time of emotional pain to finding help with his scars. He had to take a 360 turn in his life in order to heal his life and spirit.
Disaster relief is a new concept within the energy medicine model which uses alternative and complimentary care for healing body, mind and spirit. It is a concept whose time has come and the Touch for Health conference I’m attending in Chicago is aptly named WELLNESS FOR ALL.
